Blue Sky Competition Program

Tennis is a sport, a game which people enjoy playing at all ages and levels. 

Our competition program aims to:

• Provide competitive opportunities for all ages and abilities
• Make competition enjoyable and rewarding
• Make entering competitions easy
• Support personal development of players through tennis (build confidence, resilience, persistence etc.)
• Support players to understand the competition landscape at Local, County, Regional and National level
• Encourage analysis and learning to improve performance

Blue Sky Competition Definition Levels – to help entering the right comp!

Red Level

This Player has limited experience and is primarily focused on getting the ball into play and maintaining consistency across all strokes.

White Level

This Player has a consistent but not powerful serve, fairly consistent groundstrokes when hitting medium paced balls but not comfortable with all strokes, an improver stage.

Green Level

This Player has multiple years of experience, has a consistent serve and can control power, direction and depth on both forehand and backhand.

Blue Level

This player is a regular competitor. The Player can use power and handle fast pace. The player can control depth and accuracy of shots and can vary tactics depending on the opponent.

Blue Sky Tennis Junior Tour Series

Who is it for? – 6-12yrs new competitors around the Bristol, Bath & Wilts region

What’s the aim? Create a positive early experience of competition to encourage player participation

What’s involved? Players are organised into teams and play singles & doubles matches. There are Individual, team & fairplay prizes at stake!

The Dates

Mini Tour 5-8yrs – 1-2pm Sunday 15th October & 1-2pm Sunday 19th November 2023

Junior Tour 9-12yrs – 2-4pm Sunday 15th October & 2-4pm Sunday 19th November 2023

Blue Sky Tennis Competitions ‘Unlocked’ 

Who is it for? – Boys and Girls 13-16yr olds around the Bristol, Bath & Wilts region playing at club level.

What’s the aim? Provide a competitive environment for players that can play, love tennis and want to play for their own enjoyment (above rating & rankings!). Encourage Adults and Juniors who play within their clubs to try playing outside of their usual tennis base.

What’s involved? 8 size draws for individuals or pairs, so you play 3 matches

Blue Sky Free Adult Competitions

We have partnered with Scala sports to create a series of FREE local Adult competitions, making it easier to play matches and find practice partners of similar level.

The main reasons stopping people playing tennis are:

1. They don’t have anyone to play with
2. Being worried about playing level
3. Competitions can seem like pressure and unfriendly environments
4. Difficult to commit to certain days & times

Our competitions solve these problems!

1. Bring players together in one place
2. Organise everyone into similar standards from Beginner to Advanced, so you play people of similar standard
3. The spirit of the league is for fun and enjoyment rather than reward and ranking.
4. You can organise games when it suits you
5. The app also lets you find players of similar level so you can build a list of practice partners outside of the leagues.

Our current Scala competitions

Singles – Box Leagues

Ideally players would not travel further than 25 mins to play a match.

Blue Sky Tennis – Bath mixed singles box league – next round to be announced soon.
